Becoming an Epcon Communities franchisee involves a serious commitment. Obviously, you should expect to have many questions before making that commitment. It will require a face-to-face meeting with an Epcon representative to answer all of your questions. As a starting point, here are answers to some basic questions we are frequently asked.
Q. What's the size of a typical Epcon community? A. Communities vary in size with the amount of land available, setbacks, allowable densities and government regulations. The average community comprises 100 homes, with the smallest having 60 homes.
Q. What capital is required? A. Typically, capital of at least $1 million is required. In addition, you will need a revolving line of credit of between 2 and 4 million dollars.
Q. Is my territory protected? A. Absolutely. A protected market area is established for each project and franchisee in good standing. Other Epcon Communities franchisees are prohibited from building in your protected area during the construction and initial marketing period.
Q. Does Epcon arrange financing or recommend investors? A. We neither arrange financing nor recommend investors. We can, however, show you how other Epcon Communities franchisees structure their financing and bring investors into their system. We can also introduce you to lenders who have worked with other Epcon franchisees.
Q. Can I continue my present career and hire others to operate the franchise for me? A. No. Being an Epcon Communities franchisee requires a full-time commitment.
Q. How many people will I need to hire? A. Typically, you will need to hire two full-time sales consultants, a job superintendent, as well as construction and service technicians. Other staff may include accounting and administrative personnel.
Q. May I talk with some Epcon Communities franchisees about their experience? A. Yes, in fact, we encourage it. Our offering circular contains a list of all current franchisees, their location and phone numbers.
